By Friday Idachaba, Lokoja. KOGI State House of Assembly has resumed sitting, with the Speaker Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf expressing excitement and gratitude to God for the Supreme Court's affirmation of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's victory in the November 11th governorship election.  Speaker Yusuf stated this in his address of welcome to members at resumption of plenary after a long recess, on Tuesday in Lokoja. Yusuf commended the members for their show of solidarity and assured them of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC)'s commitment to working cordially and in unison for the betterment of the state. Kogi Assembly Passes Vote of Confidence on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo...Applauds numerous achievements in 7 months

By Friday Idachaba, Lokoja KOGI State House of Assembly has passed a Vote of Confidence on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, commending his outstanding achievements in the last seven months. The House passed the vote of confidence at Tuesday plenary sitting following the adoption of a motion on Urgent Public Importance, moved by Hon. Akus Lawal (APC-Ankpa 1). Akus in soliciting the support of his colleagues for the motion, highlighted the governor's significant accomplishments in fiscal discipline, Financial Management, Agriculture, Health, Security, Infrastructure Development and Education. The motion praised Governor Ododo's efforts in reducing the state's domestic debt from N121 billion to N38 billion, earning Kogi State a "B-" rating with a positive outlook from FITCH Ratings. A University Don, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni, has called on employers in Nigeria's tertiary institutions to provide special IT training for academic staff to effectively integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into existing systems.  He emphasized the need for caution, as some students use AI tools to generate answers, threatening creativity and commitment in learning. Delivering a keynote address at the third International Conference of the Faculty of Social Science, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, Professor Ocheni pointed out the opportunities and challenges of AI in education.  He advised against compromising the human element in learning and teaching, citing ethical concerns around autonomy, accountability, and the role of educators. All is now set for the third International conference of the Faculty of Social Science, Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, Kogi state tomorrow Wednesday, September 4th 2024. The conference  tilted; Artificial Intelligence and the future of Education, Research and Development in Africa: Issues and Challenges, will have a former Minister, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni delivering the key note address at the event. A senator Titus Zam will be the chairman of the occasion, while the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Marietu Tenuche serves as the Chief host, with Professor Cletus Idoko as host. A statement by the organizing committee explained that Professor Sam Egwu  is the lead paper presenter, while the Senator representing Kogi East, Jibrin Isah Echocho will serve as father of the day.
