Kogi Assembly Passes Vote of Confidence on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo...Applauds numerous achievements in 7 months

KOGI State House of Assembly has passed a Vote of Confidence on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, commending his outstanding achievements in the last seven months.
The House passed the vote of confidence at Tuesday plenary sitting following the adoption of a motion on Urgent Public Importance, moved by Hon. Akus Lawal (APC-Ankpa 1).
Akus in soliciting the support of his colleagues for the motion, highlighted the governor's significant accomplishments in fiscal discipline, Financial Management, Agriculture, Health, Security, Infrastructure Development and Education.
The motion praised Governor Ododo's efforts in reducing the state's domestic debt from N121 billion to N38 billion, earning Kogi State a "B-" rating with a positive outlook from FITCH Ratings.
The governor's initiatives in agriculture, including the designation of 8,000 hectares of farmland, release of N8 billion to farm clusters, and refurbishment of 200 tractors, were also commended.
In health, the motion recognized the governor's efforts in formalizing the Health Insurance Scheme, revitalizing over 70 Primary Health Centres, and distributing consumables and hospital equipment.
The governor's commitment to security, infrastructure development, and education was also acknowledged, including the engagement of local hunters and vigilantes, launch of the metropolitan quick response unit, and construction of roads and model colleges.
The House of Assembly's vote of confidence is a testament to Governor Ododo's dedication to transforming Kogi State and improving the lives of its citizens.
Hon. Jibrin Abu, (APC-Ajaokuta) seconded the motion and was supported by members who in their various submissions, applauded the governor for his achievements in spite of pressure arising from the litigations.
Ruling on the motion, Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf said that in spite of the hanging litigations arising from the election, the governor, within seven months achieved so much.
He said that the governor had made tremendous impact in fiscal discipline and financial management, reduction in the state's domestication debt, improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and great improvement in agricultural system.
He said that the Health sector witnessed tremendous support from Ododo from Private Health Care to tertiary health institutions, great improvement in security, infrastructural development across the three Senatorial Districts, a lot of continuity and support for Education, great reforms and improvement in Kogi civil service at state and Local Government.
He said that the governor deserved not just a pass mark but excellence and a Vote of Confidence to support and encourage him was quite in order.
Speaker Yusuf therefore adopted the motion following overwhelming voice votes in favour of the motion. (Ends)
